Summary

In the aftermath of a violent coup that shakes the Joseon dynasty, King Yi Hong-wi is dethroned and sent into exile. Meanwhile, in the remote mountain village of Gwangchungol in Yeongwol, village chief Eom Heung-do struggles to provide for his people. Seeking to revive the village, he volunteers Cheongnyeongpo as a place of exile, believing it will bring great fortune. Instead of a powerful noble, however, the man he receives is the fallen boy king, Yi Hong-wi. Assigned as warden, Eom Heung-do is tasked with watching the young man’s every move. But as days pass, he grows increasingly troubled by the boy who has lost the will to live.
